Kaylee and Her Doggie Siblings :)

When I was pregnant with Kaylee, Molly knew. She became very protective of me and took to licking my belly all the time. Weird but kind of sweet, hahah.

When Kaylee was born, Molly seemed to know she was the baby that had been in my belly. She somehow knew Kaylee was my pup. She was protective of her, yet respectful to me because her instincts told her I wouldn't want anyone near my pup. Whenever we put Kaylee down to sleep in bed or in her bassinet, Molly would lay nearby and guard her. I had been afraid about jealousy during my pregnancy, since Molly was my baby and the center of my attention for years, but obviously I needn't have worried! (Below Kaylee is breastfeeding and I am completely topless so I had to cut a bit of the pic off lol.)

As Kaylee grew, she became interested in petting (aka torturing) Molly. Molly would give her warning growls, as a mother dog might do a pup, but would not "discipline" her as a mother dog... I think because she knew I was the mother and it wasn't her place to discipline. So she just put up with the torture as best she could. She did try to hide from Kaylee sometimes when it got to be too much, but remained very protective of her. And of course, was still very interested in licking her, actually more so since she started teething and drooling.  Apparently, baby drool is very yummy to dogs LOL.

Then we got a puppy! (What were we thinking? I have no idea. It's not like we didn't have enough to do already!!) Anyway, Kaylee was at the peak of her "torture dogs" stage. So Aries grew up being petted, poked, smacked, etc. I'd say poor Aries, but he honestly likes it. He likes any form of attention and he's a tough dog, very muscular and his head is like a brick lol. Nothing can really hurt him.

So now we are a big, happy family! Molly puts up with Kaylee and Aries, and loves them in spite of them constantly annoying her. Kaylee and Aries play fetch, doctor, and cowboys together, and sometimes just rough house. All 3 of them snuggle on the couch together, and it's so cute that I've pretty much given up on the no dogs on the couch rule.

Life with kids and pets in the house can sure be challenging. Sometimes I think I am crazy for having 2 dogs, a toddler (is 3 years old still a toddler?) and another baby on the way. It is seriously a lot of work, and it's only going to get harder when the new baby comes!! But at the same time, it's worth it for all the cute moments. I really can't imagine life without our dogs. Growing up with pets has given Kaylee a love of animals and a respect for life in general. I wouldn't trade that for anything. :)

(PS Yes we also have a chinchilla and a hamster, but I've come to realize they are just too small to interact safely with Kaylee at this age.)

Pregnancy Update - 23 Weeks (Name Announcement :)

Week: 23. (Approximately 17 weeks, or 120 days, to go!)

Due date: November, 28.

Symptoms: I think I'm starting to feel better. Finally! Still have heartburn, nausea, cramps, and back pain sometimes but not nearly as bad as before.

Feeling: Excited! But still worried. I feel like I won't truly relax until the baby is nearing full term... Maybe not until she's born and I hold her and see for myself that she is healthy.

Cravings: I had this craving for ice cream the other night. Steven ran to 7 Eleven at midnight, isn't he sweet? ^_^

Aversions: Fish, poop... Anything with a strong odor makes me gag lol.

Sleep: I started taking Unisom again. I just was not sleeping AT ALL so I really have to, but even a half a pill makes me feel groggy the next day. :(

Health: Good. All of my tests have come back good so far, though I have to get some more next week.

Exercise: Walking and keeping pretty active, at least compared to how I was until recently!

Labor signs: No. My cramps are still there, but not too bad.

Baby's size: A bit more than 11 inches and a 1 pound. (A large mango!)

Weight gain: Still at around 30 pounds. And hopefully won't gain much more. =/

Movement: Baby is still super active. :) But I'm kind of scared because if she feels so strong now at 1 pound, what will the kicks feel like at 6?!

Stretchmarks: Just the ones my hips from Kaylee, but I feel like they are darker.

Gender: Girl!!!

Names: It's pretty much official... Her name is going to be Brynna Rose. <3

BabyCenter update: Turn on the radio and sway to the music. With her sense of movement well developed by now, your baby can feel you dance. And now that she's more than 11 inches long and weighs just over a pound (about as much as a large mango), you may be able to see her squirm underneath your clothes. Blood vessels in her lungs are developing to prepare for breathing, and the sounds that your baby's increasingly keen ears pick up are preparing her for entry into the outside world. Loud noises that become familiar now — such as your dog barking or the roar of the vacuum cleaner — probably won't faze her when she hears them outside the womb.

Other stuff: Kaylee likes to sing and talk to the baby and feel her kick in response. So cute. :) Steven has been getting into daddy preparation mode, worrying about if the carpet is clean enough for a baby or if we should replace it and stuff like that lol. I've been researching cloth diapers 24/7, I'm thinking I really want to do cloth this time around. I also need to start looking into buying baby gear... We have some of Kaylee's things but we need a double stroller, infant car seat, baby swing, and a few other things. I don't want to leave it all to the last minute, that will be too expensive. Plus I CAN NOT WAIT to start buying baby stuff, I get giddy just thinking about it! We still have all of Kaylee's clothes, so we don't really need clothes, but I'm sure I won't be able to resist getting at least a few outfits. ;)

I haven't taken any pics this week but for previous belly and ultrasound pic, go here.

What Makes Your Monday?

Just found this blog hop and I think it's awesome. I'm all for positive thinking, especially on everyone's least favorite day of the week!

So, Steven has started his new work schedule. He woke up with Kaylee while I slept in, then took her to the park while I stayed to do a few chores and bloggy things. He still wakes up early, even though he doesn't get to go to bed until past 1am. He's just an early riser and can't help it, so there's really nothing I can do but take advantage of it... I just feel so guilty that it's so awesome for me and so bad for him lol. Still, being rested and doing the chores in solitude while listening to MY music definitely made my Monday. And it's only temporary, he should get a better schedule in a couple months. :) Then I may have a try a little harder to find something positive in Mondays!

Thankful Thursday :)

...that my grandma has a new dog. I think it will really cheer her up to have a pet again since her parakeets died.

...that Kaylee loves her daddy so much. It melts my heart to see them cuddling and playing together every day! And I am so proud of him for beating the odds and stepping up to be an amazing dad at age 19.

...that Baby Brynna is healthy, and still in my belly! Now if she will just stay in there until she's full term, I will be the happiest and most grateful person on earth. :)

(Mostly) Wordless Wednesday - Meet Maggie!

My grandma came over and much to our surprise, she has a new dog!

Her name is Maggie and she's a 2 year old Yorkie.

I felt bad giving her a bath because she looked so sad wet.

I gave her a haircut, cleaned her ears, and cleaned a sore she had too.

Isn't she cute? :)

Note: My grandma just got Maggie 2 days ago and she is supposed to see the vet and groomer's next week, I just did what I could to make her more comfortable until then.

Pregnancy Update - 22 Weeks!

Week: 22. :)

Due date: They changed it back to November, 28. That will be my 25th birthday!

Symptoms: Same stuff... Tired, nausea, heartburn, back pain, cramps (can't tell if it's ligament pain or Braxton-Hicks).

Feeling: Less worried, more excited. :)

Cravings: Sweets.

Aversions: Anything with a strong odor.

Sleep: My sleep was never good to begin with and now it's awful!

Health: Ok. They have to do some more blood tests to check for various things. They think my weight gain might be caused by diabetes or a thyroid problem or something.

Exercise: I go for walks, that's all I can really do without getting awful stomach and back pains.

Labor signs: The cramps worry me but I'm told they are normal and not a sign of labor.

Baby's size: 11 inches and nearly 1 pound!

Weight gain: 30 pounds, yikes!

Movement: Baby is SUPER active. We can see my belly moving from the outside already. I swear, she seems so strong! It can get uncomfortable at times but it's really reassuring to always feel her moving.

Stretchmarks: Not really. I feel like the ones I got on my hips with Kaylee are getting a bit darker.

Gender: Girl!!! They confirmed it on 3D ultrasound.

BabyCenter update: At 11 inches (the length of a spaghetti squash) and almost 1 pound, your baby is starting to look like a miniature newborn. His lips, eyelids, and eyebrows are becoming more distinct, and he's even developing tiny tooth buds beneath his gums. His eyes have formed, but his irises (the colored part of the eye) still lack pigment. If you could see inside your womb, you'd be able to spot the fine hair (lanugo) that covers his body and the deep wrinkles on his skin, which he'll sport until he adds a padding of fat to fill them in. Inside his belly, his pancreas — essential for the production of some important hormones — is developing steadily.

Other stuff: At this point, we call the baby Brynna. Kaylee has been calling her that for months now and we feel like that's her name. I can picture telling her later on that her big sister named her. :) Kaylee also brings presents and piles them on my belly, and still gives my belly check ups with her doctor play set. She makes up songs and sings them to my belly, today she was singing, "I love you, baby sister Brynnaaaaa," It was so adorable. I start crying whenever I think about meeting our new baby, holding her, and seeing her bond with her sister and daddy. I can't wait to be a family of 4, I feel so blessed!

Toddle Along Tuesday - What I want to be when I grow up

During my teen years, I dropped out of high school because I hated it. I homeschooled myself and got my GED. I babysat and petsat, and I loved kids and animals. I vaguely thought I'd be a dog trainer or a preschool teacher one day, but had no direction or motivation. Plus, my Bi-polar was pretty bad at that point, it was probably the worst in my late teen years.

When I was 19, I met Steven, and we became serious pretty much immediately. I was always depressed that we lived so far away from each other; half the time I was on the verge of breaking up with him because it was just so painful to not be able to be together. Then when I was 20, I got pregnant. My priorities pretty much changed overnight. I started living a healthier lifestyle and doing all I could to keep my Bi-polar in check. (And I have not had a serious mania or depression episode since I found out I was pregnant!) I decided to focus on the baby for then, but start community college after she was born. Getting pregnant honestly changed who I was, and brought happiness and purpose to my life.

When Kaylee was 8 months old, I went to a class that helps you figure out what you want to do with your life. I decided I wanted to be a dog trainer and/or an author. So my next step was actually starting college. It took me a while because life was hectic. We were trying to move out of my mom's house and get our own place. But I eventually got there and now I'm majoring in Creative Writing. I'm taking a break from classes while I'm pregnant, but I plan to go back in January. Baby #2 will only be a couple months old then, so I may have to put it off until next September. In the mean time, I try to devote time to working on my novel every day. :)

Since I know being an author isn't likely to become a regular job, I'm thinking that after I finish college, I might try to get a job at Petsmart. I'm hoping I can get hands on experience there and maybe eventually be a dog trainer there. My dream is to eventually start my own dog training business, and be a published author. But I'm still finding myself, so we'll see where I end up!

Monday Blog Hop! #7

No rules, link up anything! Thanks for participating, have fun!! :D PS Does anyone want to trade blog buttons? Let me know!

Carnival and Beach Pics :)

Beach!

I figured it was too cold to swim and we'd just play in the sand.

 :)

Anyway, Kaylee had other ideas.

She reeeally wanted to swim.

So she started stripping...

And I gave up and put on her swim suit.

I kept asking her if she was cold but she said she was fine. Crazy girl, I was cold and I wasn't even wet!

You can't say I'm not in any of the pictures lol.

Some sort of fish eggs?

Dead horseshoe crab.

 Cool huh?

Pretty sky.

Birdie.

:)

Sailboat.

The colors in the sky were amazing.

Carnival. :)

Riding all by herself (well, with a little boy).

She was tall and brave enough to have a lot more fun this year than last year.

Look, I'm in a picture! Lol.

My mom was so nice to take us, it was super hot out!!

Ferris wheel. :)

The swing ride.

I liked this one the best because it cooled you off!

They added this ride this year and I have to say I found riding in spinning bear stomachs odd.

Knocked out, 5 minutes after we left!
