Weekly Weigh In #3

Week: 3.
Weight loss this week: 0 again. :(
Total weight loss: 21.
Current weight: 219.
Weight goal: 150 pounds.
Eating habits this week: I've been eating pretty healthy but just a lot. A lot a lot. I guess breastfeeding makes me feel like I have the right to do that but I know I only really need like 250 extra calories so I'll have to cut down a little.
Exercise habits this week: I feel perfectly fine at this point so I'm going to call my midwife and see if I can exercise yet. I think I'm supposed to wait until I was 6 weeks postpartum but I'm getting impatient. Not just because of weight loss, it also improves my mood a lot.

3 Week Update :)

Brynna is already 3 weeks old!! The weeks are just passing by so fast. I feel like the time just slips through my fingers and before I know it she'll be going off to preschool. That is what happened with Kaylee, I can't believe she is about to turn 4. But what can you do, there's no stopping time!

Brynna is a great sleeper, and I'm seeing a basic schedule that she sticks to every day now. She's awake all morning, asleep all afternoon, awake all evening, then asleep all night. She wakes up to nurse every couple hours while asleep but then goes right back to sleep. I'm really liking this schedule, although I find it odd. I thought babies had much shorter sleeping and wakeful periods, while Brynna only has 2 long periods of each daily. Is it just me or is that weird?

This poor baby has had a stuffy nose for 2 weeks now, which I have to suction a few times a day for her to be able to sleep and eat. I also tried squirting saline solution up her nose, but it made her cough and cry a lot. So I tried breastmilk and it seems to help her without upsetting her too much. But then soon the stuffiness just comes back. :( The pediatrician says that's all I can really do for her and to just wait and it will go away soon.

Breastfeeding is still going well, I still have plenty of milk. Something in my diet is giving her gas though. I can't figure out what it is. She still doesn't really cry, just fusses and strains on and off. Even with the gas and stuffy nose, she's still a surprisingly quiet baby. I hope she feels better soon, poor thing. It's hard watching her struggle and not being able to do anything to help her. :(

Kaylee is still acting out a bit but she's doing better. She still adores the baby. All I hear all day is, "Can I hold my baby sister?" and "Take a picture of me and Brynna!" It's so sweet, I just have to make sure she doesn't pick her up when I look away. Judging by the way she picks up my grandma's Yorkie, I don't think that would be good, lol!

Other than that, things are going well. It's pretty easy right now, with Steven home. I'm a little worried that it will be tough once he finds a new job. Kaylee is going to start going to school 5 mornings a week instead of just 2, so that will make things a bit easier on me. Hopefully she'll adjust well to that and enjoy it. She loves school now so I think it will be good. :)

PS I will put up Flashback Friday in the morning. Sorry, it's turning out to be very challenging to manage my time with 2 kids. Not sure when and if that will improve, lol!

I can't seem to get a good picture of her looking at the camera with good lighting!! I think I need a new camera.
I have yet to get a picture that shows her beautiful dark blue eyes.
Kaylee couldn't stop playing with her princess play-doh set to eat dinner lol! She got so many awesome presents this year. :)
Not the best pic ever, Brynna was starting to fuss. :(
Goofy girl.
Lovely. -_-

Thankful Thursday

Today I am thankful that we got the kids to bed, got the house clean, and sorted and put away all our holiday presents, all at a decent hour! I'm also feeling so so grateful for our familys' generosity and thoughtfulness this holiday season. I had over 2 loads of new clothes to wash this evening, just of new clothes, which were much needed. I'm glad we got to spend Christmas with my in laws and that the kids were quiet for the 2 hour trip there and back. Tomorrow, Steven starts job searching, so I would be super grateful for any positive thoughts and prayers! :) I hope everyone had a great holiday with their families!!

Weekly Weigh In #2

Week: 2.
Weight loss this week: 1 pound.
Total weight loss: 21 pounds.
Current weight: 219 pounds.
Weight goal: 150 pounds.
Eating habits this week: Good, although I ate a little too many sweets this week. But it's the holiday season so that's to be expected. ;)
Exercise habits this week: I'm still taking it easy, I figure I will start exercising again at 6 weeks postpartum or so.

Sorry I got this up late again, I will have to put it up Saturday night from now on. Sundays are too busy around here. Anyway, everyone is welcome to link up any health and fitness related posts... A healthy recipe, your weight loss progress, motivational quotes, anything like that! Note: I will put up my Monday No Rules Blog Hop in the morning. :)

2 Weeks Old!

I can't believe Brynna is 2 weeks old already! It's strange, I feel like she got here just yesterday. But at the same time, I can't imagine life without her anymore. Half the time when I have the chance to do something I need to do or sleep, I just end up staring at her. I love her so much!

I am starting to get the hang of her cues and getting to know her better. She's different than Kaylee as a baby. If she stirs or fusses at night, she will settle herself and go back to sleep. At first, I'd jump up and pick her up, only to have her pass back out in my arms. She's a good sleeper, she slept from 10pm to 8am last night, waking to nurse 3 times and going right back to sleep.

She's had a stuffy nose this week, I guess Kaylee brought home a cold from school. I have to suction her nose, which she hates, but if I don't do it she can't breathe through her nose so she can't nurse.

She's a quiet baby, she really never cries. She doesn't like getting her diaper changed or being in the car seat unless it's in motion. We have had people staring at us because we rock the car at red lights to keep her quiet, lol!

She's still nursing well and starting to get chubby. She's making eye contact more and she turns her head to voices she recognizes. She's will happily hang out in the baby swing or vibrating seat for a while. She takes a pacifier sometimes, but usually just when she's sleepy now.

Kaylee's doing better, although she's still waking up insanely early for some reason, which is so unlike her. She's still misbehaving but we're giving her more attention and humoring her for the most part. More discipline wasn't helping, I think she just needs extra love to get through this huge change. She's not a spoiled kid and I don't think a babying her right now will hurt her. If I have to read and cuddle her to sleep every night, so be it, I don't mind.

It is a little bit of a stressful time right now since Steven is job searching and we don't know when he will have a job. But we are both staying positive, and trying to focus on enjoying the newborn stage and paying extra attention to Kaylee. We've been spending a lot of time together as a family. I really love being a family of 4. I do hope Steven finds a job asap but at the same time I wish he never had to go back to work because it's been so nice having him home all the time.

PS I feel like I have recovered faster, have been less moody, and have a lot more milk after this birth than when I had Kaylee because of my placenta pills. I'm not positive how much of it is because of them but I do think placenta encapsulation is worth looking into if you're pregnant. I know it seems gross but most mammals do consume their placenta so it makes sense that we are meant to, too. The pills aren't as icky as I thought they would be either, they look like regular vitamins, almost exactly like my iron supplements.
