Flashback Friday

It's neat having a blog because you can look into past and see what you were doing and thinking. Last year at this time, I was 27 weeks pregnant with Brynna. I was SO anxious, worried, hopeful, and excited. And this time 2 years ago, I was potty training Kaylee and Aries! I miss them being so little and cute but man, I do not wish to relive the nightmare that was potty training them both at the same time, hahah!

Thankful Thursday

I'm thankful that Kaylee seems to really like school so far! And I'm beyond grateful that she is apparently behaving beautifully. I don't want to curse it but hopefully this will keep up!!

What are you all thankful for today?

(Not So) Wordless Wednesday

Ok this is an example of the Schoenberg bad luck (that's my maiden name).

On the first day of school, my mom's car was in the shop, and she is meant to take Kaylee to school. But no worries, Steven left the car seats for me to install in the rental car, right? No, just Kaylee's. So I found a spare car seat for the baby, and we were late to school.

Second day, it's time to go and there's no car seat in the rental. I call Steven at work, and he tells me he took it because he thought my mom would have her van back by now. So I install Kaylee's spare car seat, and we're late to school.

Today, nothing can go wrong, right? Wrong. Kaylee's spare car seat won't buckle. She outgrew it since yesterday. She's wearing thinner clothes, if anything. No jacket. I don't know what happened. Soooo, late to school again.

Interested to see what fate has in store for us tomorrow, lol. It's always interesting being a Schoenberg, at least. No matter what I change my last name to, the luck follows! Either that, or living next door to my mom keeps me associated it with it, hah!

Anyway, onto (Not So) Wordless Wednesday.

Aries: "Oh crap, the little one is mobile now too?!" Molly: "Yep, that's why I'm trying to say safe on the couch!"
A club meeting that I'm not allowed to participate in.
Yucky Aries kisses.
Lol I really don't let him do this generally, they were just looking at eachother when I went to take pictures. Oh well, a kid never died from dog drool.
When I was at the ER, I saw my grandma's name, Gussie, on the chart. Even when I was in horrible discomfort and afraid I was dying, I still told Steven to take a picture, hahah. That's how you know someone is truly devoted to picture taking!
Saw this pretty butterfly on the back porch.
Then I noticed it had a piece of its wing missing and couldn't fly. So I did butterfly surgery, and viola! It flew away. :)
My mother-in-law and sister-in-law visiting. :)
Fun times!!
The girls bonding with their Aunt Alysha.
So I decided to try Brynna's diaper on Kaylee to get an idea of how long they will fit Brynna. Then it was so funny, I had to take a picture. XD
Yum yum feet.
I was at my doctor and Kaylee goes, "Don't worry, I'll babysit Brynna for you!" while I filled out the papers.
For some reason, everyone wanted to get into this container, lol.
What was so fun about it being in a box? I guess you have to be a child to get it.
Attempted selfie. I'm apparently not good at taking pics of myself with my cell phone, hahah.
Steven being silly at the park. xD
After his shower. He did not want me to take a picture, heheheh.
Monsters vs aliens! I was so disappointed to hear this idea had already been thought of.
All 4 doggies!
My favorite mug. It holds like 3 cups of coffee.

Kay's First Day of School

The first day went well. Apparently she was well-behaved, which was a huge relief. According to her, she loved it, but did have some issues dealing with certain situations that tend to upset her. She didn't deal with them perfectly, but she didn't get too upset either, so I'm not complaining. For example, she told me that another girl told her some playground rules, and Kaylee didn't think she was telling the truth, and that made her feel very angry. She told the girl that she didn't want her to tell her the rules anymore or she would have to yell at her, or something to that effect, lol. We talked about nicer ways to deal with similar situations next time. Hey, at least she didn't bite her!

In general, her behavior has really been great lately. No major tantrums. Still having nice terrors, but sleeping better aside from that. I feel bad because she really wants to behave. She just experiences things at a very intense level, it seems. She's learning ways to calm down and deal with things, though. We do a lot of roleplaying and I think that's paying off. I ask her, "So, what would you do if this happened?" and she used to say things like, "I'd just scream," or something, but now she's saying things like, "I'd go somewhere else." So that's good, hopefully it will continue to improve. I think as long as we keep trying to be understanding, and when we do have to discipline her do so gently and respectfully, she'll do great. She feels very attacked and affronted when adults (or anyone) are not polite to her, so being too strict or losing your temper only backfires. We'd literally have to beat her black and blue to "force" her to respect us, and even then I really think it would only make her more aggressive and/or withdrawn, so I don't believe getting more strict is the way to go with her.

She is just such a polite and well-meaning kid in general. I hate that I talk about her challenging aspects all the time. I never want to sound like I'm complaining about her or trying to fix her. I love her just the way she is!! She makes me smile all the time. Like the other day, we were getting ready to go somewhere and she's like, "I got dressed and put my dirty clothes in the laundry basket. And I laid Brynna's clothes on the couch for you. And I packed the diaper bag with all the things we will need!" She's such a little helper. She cleans her room up of her own accord now, and always tries to follow the house rules. She's so smart and inquisitive. The other day she asks me, "Who is Dr. Subramanian's doctor?" She wanted to know who her doctor's doctor was, lol! She's also the most amazing big sister ever, always trying to help entertain and take care of Brynna. Ok, I'm starting to go on and on now, but you get the drift. I have a pretty awesome kid! :)

Monday No Rules Blog Hop #53

Tomorrow is Kaylee's first day of preschool. I'm sooooo nervous and sad, yet also extremely excited and hopeful! And just relieved to get it over with because I've been anxious about it all Summer and not allowed to let it show. If you're a parent, how do you deal with sending your kids off to school? Also, do you guys think it's normal that 18 glue sticks were on her list of supplies????? Lol.

Now onto the hop. :) No rules, link up anything! As many links as you want. Taking a button is optional. Remember, visiting other links is what makes blog hops work! Thanks for participating, have fun. :) For more Monday link-ups, go HERE.

Weekly Weigh-in #35

Week: 35.
Weight loss this week: 5.
Total weight loss: 45.
Current weight: 195.
Weight goal: 160. (Or whenever I feel like I'm at a healthy weight.)
Eating habits this week: I do pretty good the majority of the time. Until my mom makes brownies or something, then I BINGE, lol.
Exercise habits this week: Only worked out once this week but went to the park with the kids and ran the dogs a few times.

I've pretty much accepted that if it's not ear pain, it will be something else making it "impossible" to lose the weight, and I just need to DO IT ANYWAY.

If you're on a goal to get healthier and/or lose weight, how is your progress lately??

Please link up any health and fitness related posts... A healthy recipe, your weight loss progress, motivational quotes, anything like that! Taking a button is optional. :)

First Therapy Appointment

So the other day, we had Kaylee's first therapy appointment.

We went in, and the therapist introduced herself. Kaylee was like, "Hi, nice to meet you. I'm Kaylee. I'm 4 years old." When asked who she lived with, she replied, "I live with my mommy and my daddy and my baby sister. I love my baby sister, her name is Brynna. We have 2 dogs, I love them too."

She answers all of the other questions politely and articulately, sitting all proper-like with her hands folded in her lap. Then she goes and plays with the toys nicely the rest of the time while we talk to the therapist and give her some background info, since this was a take in appointment.

The therapist was like, "Well she seems like just a perfect little angel. She's so smart and polite, and so good with her little sister." It figures that Kaylee would be on her best behavior when we go in and try to tell someone that it's getting bad enough that we think we need help, doesn't it? Lol.

Of course, the therapist didn't see that as soon as we left, Kaylee started crying and flipping out because she didn't want to be in her car seat. Then we got home, she refused to eat more than 2 bites of dinner, then went to bed at midnight and got up at 5am, lol.

Have your kids ever made a complete fool out of you? Mine have so many times, I'm pretty much used to it by now, hah!

Thankful Thursday

I'm thankful for music, which puts the kids and me in a much better mood whenever I put it on. :) Now, if we could just agree on more music! One song we all like is Bass Head by Bassnectar. Every time I put it on, both kids stop whatever they're doing and start dancing like they're on psychedelic drugs, hahah!

What are you all thankful for today??
