Wow, I can't believe Skyler is already a week old! It's been such a crazy week. I think it's finally starting to settle down and we are hopefully settling into a routine. Having 3 kids definitely isn't easy, but it's also so fun. Watching them all bond with eachother has been the sweetest thing!
I just posted the birth story, but in case you missed it, here's the short version. On the 27th around 11pm, I went into labor. It was pretty sudden, the contractions started out 3 minutes apart and lasting 30 seconds. And they were very painful, right from the beginning.
I made some calls and when Steven got home, we headed to the birth center. The midwife checked me and I was 3cm dilated. Then my water broke and there was meconium in it, so we transferred to the hospital. It was a 10 minute drive or so, and I was admitted and headed to the labor and delivery ward. I felt the urge to push in the hallway, and Skyler was born only a few minutes after we got into the room!
She had to go to the NICU for a few hours because she was having a little trouble regulating her breathing, but luckily she was just fine. Then she had to be under the photo-therapy lights for about a day because she a bit jaundiced. They discharged us when she was 3 days old and she's been doing great. She's nursing well and at her checkup yesterday, she was up to 7 pounds 12 ounces (she was born at 7 pounds 4 ounces).
It's a bit challenging at times, but we are getting the hang of having 3 kids. The big girls just adore their new baby sister. :) Sky is a very quiet baby so far, she hasn't really cried at all. And she sleeps really well, even when the kids are being noisy. I hope she stays that way as she gets older!
