Happy Birthday to Skyler!!

As of July 28, Sky is officially 1 year old! She is getting so big and showing her personality more and more every day. :)

She is walking more than crawling now. She walked around in public for the first time the other day and she was just delighted and amazed by the experience. She also played for the first time at a play place and did great. She wasn't bothered by all the loud kids running around her.

Since we moved, she has been super clingy. She wants me to hold her all day long, and she was waking up a billion times a night. Just this week, she has been getting better with it and sleeping through the night again, or at least just waking up once in early morning.

She's a good eater and eats whatever we are eating. She has 8 teeth but I think 4 more coming in. She nurses usually 3-5 times a day. She drinks a sippy cup of water with meals and when we're out (she usually doesn't like to nurse unless I'm sitting in the rocking chair). She does pretty good eating stuff like applesauce with a spoon, at least at first. By the end, she usually throws her spoon and smears the food in her hair, hahah.

She absolutely adores our doggies now. She lays with them and strokes them, and is good about being gentle with them.

She still hates getting changed. She throws these giant tantrums, complete with thrashing and screaming, whenever we try to put a diaper and clothes on her. Sometimes I just give up and let her stay naked, and just try to put her on the potty when it looks like she's going to pee. It's a bit early for potty-training, but who knows, maybe she'll catch on.

She tries her best to copy her sisters and do a somersault, and it's so funny to watch. She wiggles her butt up and down, trying to flip over.

When she is unhappy, or sometimes when she's just trying to be funny, she does her signature face that I like to call "the scowl-pout." It cracks me up every time, lol.

She says hi,  mama, dada, wawa, ball, bubble, and maybe a few other words. (Steven and I always argue if she's actually talking or just babbling, lol.) She signs milk (when she wants to nurse), more, eat, all done, and candy. She signed candy after me showing it to her just once! I guess sugar is a good motivator, hahah.

She is learning how to play pretend. She always pretends to go nightnight on the couch pillows just so I'll laugh at her. She lays dollies down in their beds and covers them up, then pats them gently. She pretends to sip tea with our tea party set and she brushes her hair with her brush.

She is very attached to her blankey now. She really won't nurse and sleep without it. She has 3, so I can keep at least one clean (usually).

With all the craziness of moving, we haven't had her 1 year checkup yet, and I haven't unpacked my scale yet. So I'm not sure how much she weighs now, but she's recently grown out of all her 12 month clothes, so I know she's growing. :)

She always goes to her closet now and tries to put her shoes on. If she had her way, she'd be completely naked all the time aside from her pink, sparkly shoes. LOL!

She gets very possessive of Steven when he gets home from work. She pushes me and her sisters away so she can be the only one getting his attention, lol.

Her favorite thing is reading, and not just before nap and bedtime. She brings me books all day long. Her favorites are the ones with flaps that she can open, she thinks they are so funny.

On her actual birthday, Steven was working late so I told the kids we'd have to celebrate that weekend. They (Kay, Bryn, and their 2 friends) decided they needed to make her actual birthday special for her, so they threw her a party. We blew up balloons, made cupcakes, and the kids sang (LOUDLY) to her for quite a while, lol.

Because Steven had to work on the weekend and then we all got sick, one by one, we ended up finally having a family party for her last weekend. We got her an ice cream cake, and she ate her entire slice! With the move and everything, I never ended up inviting people over for an actual party, but we'll do that next year. We kind of have a family tradition of just doing a small family party for first birthdays anyway.

It's been such an amazing year. I can't wait to keep watching this smart, sweet, silly, sassy, loving, beautiful little girl grow up!! ♥
